This paper will be focused on the concept of nasikh and mansukh in understanding the Quranic verses. This concept becomes controversy among Muslim Scholars when they try to formulate the principles of Islamic law in ijtihad work. As the primary source of Islamic law, the Quran requires the difference interpretation of the main purpose of the Quranic verses. Some Muslim Scholar assumes that the number of the Quranic verses is contradictive. Therefore, some of them achieve the concept of nasikh and mansukh in formulating the principles of Islamic law from the Quran, eventhough it has been rejected by the other fuqaha. It means that the contradiction of the Quranic verses cannot be avoided when we try to make the formulation of Islamic legal principles. In conclusion, the author states that debating on the concept of nasikh and mansukh is never finished without understand the mainstream idea of the Quranic verses.yo.
