The objective of this study to deternime location to obtain specimens for microbiological laboratory diagnosis in new leprosy patient by comparing result of M. leprae detection using PCR tecnique on speciment of nasal mucosa swab those taken with skin lesion section. This experiment a laboratory observation study, in which the sample were new leprosy pattients admitted at the vission of Morbus Hansen, outpatient clinic, Dr. Soetomo hospital Surabaya, who met the inclusien creteria. Samples, consisted of 40 patient were taken by means total sampling. The patien were divided into two group namely multibasilar [MB] and paubasilar [PB] by virtue of clinical diagnosis with criteria WHO 1988.het.
